u can directly get in fellowship if u have done pg in ur home country. it's difficult for some branches and easy for some like radio. after felowship u can't practice in usa if u havn't done residency and have to return to home country. that's what i know but not 1005 sure. good luck

what aajkal has said is true. you can do a fellowship but have to go back to home country cant practise here.

  #5

Thanks, guys!
Another question, where can I find related info on this...what has to be done to get a position, exams/applications?

  #6

Also, do you think getting a fellowship in Ob-Gyn without repeating residency is possible?

  #7

why would you want to do that

  #8

Bottom line- you want to practice in USA, you have to go through the residency in USA. NO OTHER WAY..

Not really, you wouldn't be board certified in your specialty, because you would (for example) have to take the IM boards to be a board certified Cardiologist.

Several years ago, our Nephrology fellowship took very qualified IMG into their program. He wanted the US training in Nephro. When he applied for the ABIM Nephrology boards, he learned that he need the Internal Medicine boards as a pre-requisite.

Needless to say, he then wanted IM Training.....

This is frequently done in the Canadian set up, a lot of our fellows have come just to complete their fellowship training to Canada, most of them return to their home countries upon it's completion. (I believe they have to honor some sort of contract)..however I haven't heard of anything like this in the States.

But I know an italian guy who did his resy in ortho surg in Italy, then a sort of master or one year training in a uni prog in US. Then they told him that to practise there he had to take his usmle, which is what he did and he's now practising in that uni hosp.

thats not the case for radiology fellowships though.if one does 4yrs of fellowships/faculty post they will be eligible for taking radiology boards.its not the case for anyother feild.
http://theabr.org/DR_IMG.htm.
this is the link for radiology boards, and rules for imgs who are post grads in thier countries,if they wish to do fellowship in u.s.
though i dont know how difficult or easy it is to reach that stage.but as such even with astronomical scores its difficult for imgs to get a radiology residency.so many are trying the other way round.i wish it was the same for other feilds too.but unfortunately its not.

Now I know why and where the engagement cum separation ring which he wears on his left wing has gone missing . It was made of frozen cannabis coated with tadpole egg's yolk .

Now bbb if you wash your hands with orange juice your hands will assume the color of an apple .You liked the touch ,now its time to enjoy the color .

shaking head I didn't do it. I didn't steal.....borrow.... no, liberate the ring.

Orange juice will never cross my palms. Never. Not worth the points......

Cannabis? Frozen?confused Not in this state of the union.......but perhaps, I give to much away. People will begin to get the wrong idea about ich.
