I guess Ill be goin with only kaplan + FA for pharma then without feeling Im missing a lot of info...and read HY 100p last month...

well Q bank scores...sometimes like 85% sometimes although immidiately after craming the chapter 60-65 % sad Im trying to use Q bank as a tool now...only 20 Qs timed for each topic...then 1 month to the day...Ill buy UW and do my last reading with UW+FA..I guess that will be more realistic about where I stand ...

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh ! me at the peak of stress and u at the peak of peace and relaxation !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hope I meet u there rolling eyes

Inkspot, 1) pharm questions are totally doable, after doing kaplan and firstaid and questions of course you really shouldnt have a problem. The questions will stress little important facts that you may have missed

2) If I would take anything from the med essentials use it for physio additions and add the rate limiting enzymes and there modifiers.

3) Kaplan histology is more then enough, you may want to look at the pictures in hy if you have time but only briefly

4) I used only kaplan and first aid for molecular. For me it was more then enough. You may get a coule of ahrd q.s just remember , your bound to not know everything

5) Mri and cts were a big deal, I would atleast take a look at mris and cts of the brain shoulder and knee. I used google images and looked at a bunch of each of theses joints

6)Sometimes tha kaplan path has some microscopic info, eg blue cells in pseudorossetes , or palpalble olive and terms that are missing in the goljan book. I would use goljan as your base but maybe fill it in a little with kaplan patho. Kaplan path book is essential notes taken straight from robbins.

aim99 I did most of kaplan qbank subject wise becuase I had downloaded it. I did usmleworld qbank in random timed format. After you take the test you can still review each test individually its just that it taught me how to be efficient in each block and to think randomly. I would advise the same thing. Do it timed and do it random, the step is the same way. Of course if that means you are going to buy kaplan q bank then just dl it and do it subject wise and do uw random timed.

Afrocarib, I'm guessing you jsut finished your basic sciences in the caribbean med school like myself. I didnt have any ct or mri experience either. I just looked at a lot of cts and mris of the brain and major joints via google images. Brain (name all parts, lobe, limbic system hippocampus etc) and major joints like shoulder, knee, maybe hip)

  #38

Ancyl, tks for ur reply, ur right just finished from a carib skl, i guess i will have to look them up too on google, once again congrats on ur score u deserve it....smiling face

I got a hold of the physio qbank a little to late to use it. I did do one block of endocrin and one block of cardio and I'm sure if you have time then it will help. Same with robbins review, if you have the time why not. I have posted my nbme scores on the score thread under my name, I think i'm on pg 16 or 15

Thanks Ancyclo , so if no time ok to skip the Robbins Review Q , but can still get the high score , right .

When should you do the Q bank, & UW ?

Thank you again.nod

  #45

I would start the questions as early as possible, maybe after first read, they help consolidate important concepts
