All of the listed drugs may cause hypoglycemia but Metformin has a lesser risk compared to sulfonylureas.

yes Insulins and sulfonylureas (e.g., glizipide, chlorpropamide, and tolbutamide) may cause hypoglycemia mediated by excessive insulin activity relative to carbohydrate intake. Biguanides, such as metformin, do not increase circulating insulin or cause hypoglycemia. Metformin also produces fewer durg interactions and hypersensitivity reactions than do sulfonylureas. However, the biguanides do elevate lactic acid levels and may cause severe lactic acidosis in susceptible pts, primarily those with renal or hepatic insufficency

to add somemore info metformin doesnot have effect on insulin secretion.it just increases tissue sensitivity to insulin .therefore it can be used for insulin resistance syndrome. acarbose also doesnot cause hypoglycemia
