Got my score today 237/96
I prepared for 2 months, seriously for 1 month. I am doing a Phd in the US and did not take anytime off. Last one month was able to study 1-4hrs per night after work.
Books Used:
First Aid
Board and Wards
Mock exam by Brochert

Questions:
USMLE world 65% - did only 50% of the questions
Kaplan Q book 70-80% - did about 50% of the questions
NBME 2: 670 - does not correlate with my score

The Exam
About 50% of the questions were short - about 3 or 4 lines with the rest being longer questions. Psychiatry was the most difficult for me as I could usually narrow down to two answers I wasn't sure of. I guess I didn't know it very well. Most of the OB questions I got were on endocrine stuff, Usmleworld was very useful here. I was short of time in two or three blocks but overall time was okay.
For me the exam really resembled to step 1. I got 98 in step 1 and needed to get step 2 done quickly to make it for the match next year. I am glad it went well.
I am grateful to the forum for all the discussions. God bless u all and good luck

Hey Kotikoti, CONGRATS especially considering the fact that you were working against such a strained time scheduled! Could you please elaborate a bit more about the pros and cons of Boards and Wards vis-a-vis FA and also how useful was solving Mock exam by Brochert.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Coolmavs
thanks and sorry for the delay in writing. I will say B&W and FA are complimentary to each other. For instance B&W obstetrics, surgery and outpatient medicine is excellent while FA is great for most other topics. If you own the two books, read FA and make notes from the B&W. For the Brochert, I will say most of the questions are outmoded, it needs revision. On hindsight, I would have used the time I spent on Brochert doing more UW for instance.
Good luck
