HI,
I am a graduate of 1996. I do not have MSPE/Dean's Letter. I can get a strong LOR from my current and recent Employer. Which is advisable? To get a letter from Dean which will be a general letter as the current Dean is new and I never met him before and can't go in person to college to request.

Hey Crazydr,
I have the same Q... I was going to ask the Intl dept of my med. academy to sign the letter since not only dean but also rector have changed since 1998...

You can get a Deans letter from the current dean of your medical school, it doesn´t matter if he was not the dean when you graduated. A deans letter is not that important for IMG´s, so get whatever you can from the dean (having a general letter is better than having nothing). If you can´t get it, you can check on your ERAS application that you will not provide such letter and they will submit a blank filler in place of the dean´s letter. Many people do not submit it since many international medical schools are not familiar with such letter and this makes it difficult for IMG's to get sometimes; programs understand that.

You can not send a letter from your employer in place of Deans Letter because as the name says, it has to be from the Dean of your medical school.

Get Dean's letter from your medical school. You have time. Not a big deal!

They just have to mention the time period you were in medical school, entrance and end date, graduation date. and also it is good they write about any abscence or the courses you take in another university.

I also asked my medical school to have all my rotations and internship courses on the paper with the scores and introduce me as a potentional excellent trainee for residency program.
