hi guys
just spent a few thousand bucks on the international phone
it is then that i came to realise that cs is mandatory for applying to an externship
had a word at a few places with some
i am through with both my step 1 and 2
and am planning to take my cs in may end
right now i am working for a tertiary level mental health hospital
but it really is not an obligatory job
so if somebody will suggest me that i shd go to the u.s
preferably what should be my plan of action?

should i look for an observership
or a research assistantship

if the answer to any of the above is yes
do tell me how should i proceed
and what are the various things that i should plan to do
while in the us for about 15 days
all advise is regarded god send

i think externship is better unless maybe u do research for long enough to get published. email and call all the programs and find out. i am not sure if cs is required since i had it. email programs ur cv.

No, it is not madatory. some need just step 1.

I had an observership but the recommendation was worded as if it was an externship. It helped a lot and only one PD called my letter writer up to clarify if it really had been an externship. And that PD was not going to take me anyway. If you dont get anything else, an observership might as well be good.

thanx a lot guys
but all that i could find from the pds or their very sweet sounding (but cruel) secretaries was that
you need to take ur c/s before you can applly for the externship
so if u guys have any info abt the observerships that i can get do tell me
im taking my c/s on may 29th so i would like to settle down with an observership by that time
and during that time i also intend to take my step 3
