verywell usmlefever The term"idiotype" refers to the antigenic determinant found in hypervariable portion a.k.a complementarity-determining region or antigen binding site] of variable (V) of any given antibody. An "Idiotope" is a single antigenic epitope within the variable region (V) of any given antibody. The sum of all idiotopes in an immunoglobulin is known as the idiotype. The term "allotype" is derived from the word "alleles"and alleles are variants of same gene. The term "isotype" is used to refer to antigenic difference in teh constant (C) region of heavy and light chains of antibody. The "hinge" ,the part of C region in heavy chain is located at the base of each Fab arm and allows two arms to swing freely & give the antibody molecule flexibility.
