Hi there: I am an IMG with low scores (80,83 and passed), planning to take step 3 in July. Will taking step 3 help in getting residency? i have 2 years of clnical exp. mainly paperwork.......I only want to apply in FP and Psych? Can someone advise me besides taking step 3 what can i do for having strong chances in getting residency in 2008.......? I cannot go to US for Clinical exp. Thanks

sometimes step 3 is not necesary do you have a visa or are you an american citizen

Thanks minang: How can I improve my interview skills? Hi ram3: I'm a canadian citizen and I need J-1 visa... Does step 3 help in interview?

For J1 you dont need step3. Step-3 is required if you intend to apply for H1B. You will be fine depending upon other factors. Choice of specialty, US clinical experience, years from graduation, if you were graduated from a Canadian medical school or abroad and things like these.
