This Topic has been been hit Multiple of times of the Exms Recently i.e Headaches Know all the Ins n Outs of it. A 24-year-old man presents with a headache that has been present for nine months. He has headache almost every day, mainly frontal, sometimes with nausea. Current medication includes paracetamol, ibuprofen and codeine with only transient relief of symptoms. He has a history of depression. Examination was normal. What is the most likely diagnosis? 1) Analgesic misuse headache 2) Cluster headache 3) Frontal brain tumour 4) Headache due to depression 5) Migraine

looks like my story but i was diagnosed as migraine due to temporal headaches may be it looks like 4..?

This is one of the commonest causes of chronic daily headache (the commonest is chronic tension type headache). It is commonly caused by the chronic use of analgesics such as codeine phosphate and paracetamol). Treatment consists of reducing the amount of analgesics gradually until stopped.

1 is correct common frequently unsuspected ,cause of intractable HEADACHEbis OVERUSE OF ANALGESICS. daily ,virtually constant atypical headache. PTS should be abruptly withdrawn from all such medications & coffein. Headache during withdrawal can be managed with oral SUMATRIPTAN & PARENTERAL DIHYDROERGOTAMINE. -------------------------------------- LANGE CLINICAL NEUROLOGY
