Female gender is also strongly assoc with somatization disorder... F/M ratio is about 20/1, but " more admissions to med. wards as an adult "sounds better

hypochondrias is unrealistic interpretation of physical signs as abnormal.eg,thinking of pregnancy on feling of nausea related to some minor thing,or thinking of head tumor related to a minor headach etc but that can be evaluated by a physition never be hospitalized b/c of self created dignosis.
but in somatization disorder there are set of six to ight symptoms of pain or others can be hospitalized unless ruledout.
bizarre beh. is very genralized term can be seen in any psychotic illness.
female gender is involved in somany psychotic ilnesses that are more strongly ass. with for eg. histrionic personality, odydismorphic disorder,eatingdisorders etc.

Somatization means the expression of psychological distress into bodily complaints for which medical help is sought. Somatisation disorder is characterized by multiple, recurrent and changing symptoms for which no physical cause can be found. Other forms of persistent Somatization include hypochondriasis, dysmorphophobia and psychogenic pain.
