The threshold value for plasma glucose (i.e., the level at which glucose begins to appear in the urine) is 180 mg/dL, which corresponds to a glucose load of 225 mg/minute (assuming a GFR of 125 mL/minute). Given that 225 mg/minute is still well below the Tm for glucose (320 mg/minute), it may seem strange that glucose begins to appear in the urine at 180 mg/dL.

Can u explain why?

Tm is when all the carriers are saturated. But we can see glucose r any substance which is getting reabsorbed thru a receptor well before Tm because at this concentration some of the receptors are saturated , not all.
I guess this is what you asked. Let me know if I am wrong.

yes 179 is correct, glucose starts appearing in the urine well before the Tm value because for glucose to be present in urine total saturation of the receptors is not required.....or in other way it means that the process of saturation has begun..
and once all receptors are saturated the excretion of glucose will be at a constant rate.
this is how one can explain negative urine sugar in patients of DM with BSL above 250mg/dl.
and presence of glucose in urine in many physiological conditions....u must be knowin g that.
