mathew john 36years old computer operator comes to the physician and tells that doc, i cant urinate in the public rest rooms. i can if no one is around , but if some one comes in it just stops. ....even when i have already been doing it ........the moment someone comes it just stops. i know that there is nothing to fear and it is only natural to pass urine, but still some how i am embarassed to do it , with people around........what is the diagnosis? a.social phobia b.specific phobia c.agoraphobia d.toilet phobia e.pissphobia

social phobia, the key is that patient is not comfortable to urinate in "public" restrooms only, if he was afraid to urinate in any restroom even at home, i would call it specific phobia

this is typical of social phobia. as yulia has rightly pointed out, his distress is not about urination, but urination in public restrooms. these people feel emabarassed about their passing gas while peeing, and feel that someone will actually point out that and ridicule them.
