One sourse says treatment is life stule modifications BUT kaplan q bank says life style PLUS Thiazide diuretics. I thought this was given for stage II...

Can anyone clearify please.

also in prehypertension ( 120-139 / 80-89----> we do nothing or advise life style modifications..exercise etc

I think that we should advise to change the lifestyle, weight, etc... If it does not work, even at the same range of hypertension the thiazides would be appropriate...

thanks Justice for the reply,

ACP medscape says--> prehypertension 120-139/80-89---> nothing done

stage I hypertension--> 140-159/90-99---> life style

Stage II --> >160 /100---> drugs -thiazides are must plus can add another one.

kaplan Q bank: prehypertension--> life style.

stage I---> life style plus drugs.

Now I dont understand what to go with...
