Way to go !!!!!!! smiling face

At this point this test is the most important thing in your life. CONCENTRATE only at it. This job was not your ultimate goal. Chin up and keep your eye at your goal.

Wish you a speedy recovery . Go and get an A.....nod

this is from the uw website

I passed Step 1 with 211/87, after a first failed attempt in July 2006 (165/68). The first time, I read NMS, BRS, Lippincott, you name it. Did not help much. I restarted again in November 2006 with Kaplan Lecture Notes, doing Kaplan Q-Bank after each subject. I had variable scores, from 45% in genetics to 75% in pharmacology. In March 2007 I started the final review, but I had to cut it short after two weeks for family reasons. At that time I attempted a NBME 3 in which I scored 350/178, and for this reason I rescheduled my test three weeks later than the initial date. I had exactly 4 weeks in which I did all UW questions, two 50 blocks a day, timed, from unused questions, but I thoroughly read explanations of ALL the questions and made notes. I reviewed the notes after two weeks and then again in the end. My UW scores: I started with a couple 58%, but then the first 400 questions I had an overall 45.5%. In the very end I had a cumulative of exactly 50%, although in the last few blocks I scored several times over 60%. I also did review the First Aid during these 4 weeks. The night before the test I did two of the USMLE CD tests(I did one back in February-64%)and I scored 72% and 78%. I had the test on April 27, results released on May 16 and had them in the mail two days later, exactly three weeks after the test. I have to say that I feel I had one of the "easier" tests, in that I cannot remember any difficult biochemistry or molecular biology questions, almost all pathology and behavioral. Nothing like a year ago, although it is possbile that my brain got conditioned in such a way that nothing seemed complicated.

It may sound pretty typical, and the result, although honorable, is not exceptional. But I was definitely set on the passing score. I graduated-get this- in 1991 (no typos, that's 16 years ago), I did a residency in Family Medicine and practiced 5 years before coming to the US in 2001. I started to work full-time, did an MPH, published some research, in order to have a job good enough for employement-based immigration. My permanent residence is not even granted yet, after six years, although it is in the final phase. Oh, and I had two children here, in 2001 and 2005. Because of the visa issues, half of this time my husband was not legally allowed to work so I was the only wage earner (with daycare monthly bills higher than for what people pay on thier houses).

So I would say hard work and luck is what get you to a good score.
