Well i always like to ask for a guide line concerning how long each read for each subject and almost how many pages per day ... what do you think should be my bottom line ... im a regular student with all summer freeeeee...
(usually others tend not to answer this clearly! you know they say stuff like do whats best for you and it depends ........... )

The firts and most important thing to do is to have a time tble of when you are going to take the test.
Now lets say that you select December, ok thats the real exam, now you need to forget about that date,dont get confuse now.
Now you are going to select two months before your test as the test date ok.
So lets say October 12 is your test date, GET IN YOUR HEAD thats the TEST date.
from there you start making your plan like lets say You will dedicated one entire week to Respiratory system and renal System.
One week just for Biochemestry and you push your self.
And try to finish everything by October 12, because thats your test day, that day you take one NBME, to see where you are, and if you fail or pass it does not matter you have two months to fix your qeak areas, then you do the same but now you take one mnth take another NBME and depending what you score you will know if your ready to ake the test on December, so ass you see you will be ready.

woooo ... thats kind of new ... you want my left brain to play some tricks on my poor right brain ... OK i got that one and ill keep it in mind ... plz can you mention something about how much time to dedicate on each subject? how much time on each reading? that would make my planning job much clearer and easier... i dont want to spend too much time on one thing and neglecting something else.

You can cover Bioch. in one week
Each system a week will be enough, and you might even do 2 systems by week.

You prefer the systemwise more than subjectwise? wouldnt that make it more complicated or its the other way around?

Answer from a friend
when i took it last year, i could register for step 1 after the exam, which means nothing. but when my score was reported , then i checked to see if i could register, and i could not. it only means something after it shows on oasis that your score has been reported. then it took 6 more days before i got the score in the mail.

Hi Gogeta
I have been reading your posts for quite sometime. I am booked July 30th. I did one downloaded NBME form1 got 63%. On UW overall is approx 40-45%. I don't want to extend my exam bcoz of job situation. I haven't yet started FA or KME. I have done KLN 2-3 times and Goljan too. What are my chances and what would you suggest? Thanks

1- FA use it everyday, like taking a bath or brushing your teeth
2- Redo UW and learn each concept behing each question
3- KME I only did couple of systems and subjects, they are good because in a nutshelll they give you KLN.
4- No Im not repeating UWUWUWUWUWUUWUWUWUUWUWUWUUWUWUWUUWUWUUWUWU
About NBME I dont know what correlation could that be.
but more than 60% is good.
try to take another NBME by July 1 and take it in the internet, so lets start saving 45 dollars from now.

Thanks for your advise. I am working on it. Just one more thing.........shall I do KME too or FA will suffice? I have 45 days. I have restricted my resources to FA, KME, HY for Anatomy and Neuro, Goljan RR. I plan to do his 100 pages notes too.
I am doing UW daily about 100mcqs in tutor mode. I just read the answers of those questions which are incorrect or I am unable to understand the fact even if its right. I don't read the answers of all the stems. Is that ok or wrong method?

FA will be enough, but if you have time just go over KME
When you say all the stems, that means all the answers, if that is the case you MUST and need to read wich one is correct and which one is incorrect.
It seems you will do GOOD

Today I took BRS physiology to read a little
I felt my heart going very fast and eyes melting.
I dont want to go over this anymore
This wednesday will be week 2

Normal score reporting for Step 1 usually occurs in 3-4 weeks. However, because of necessary modifications to the test item pool as well as the processing load caused by a heavy volume of test takers, there will be a delay in score reporting for most Step 1 examinations administered in late May and June. The target date for reporting Step 1 scores for most examinees testing from May 18 through late June will be Wednesday, July 18 , 2007. It is possible that scores may be available earlier; please check this website for updates.

Thanks for stopping by. I am just starting....what should be my study schedule? is there any post which tells about how to start with the preparation. I have started reading firt chapter in goljan patho. I have goljan audio, goljan rapid review, first aid and BRS behavioral. What other material you suggest for my first reading? Should I buy kaplan? Sorry, too mnay questions.

Buddy ive been reading your progress and hope and pray that you succeed with a great score inshallah.
I gave my exam on Apr 19th and failed with a 69. I got the latest edition of Goljan RR and completed that just now with his lecture. Now I have started the Biochem notes with the Lectures and am going through them deligently right now. After that my plan is to go through the Physio,Immuno and maybe Neuroanatomy lectures with the text.
When would you suggest that I start doing UW from now on or for now just go through the lectures with the text and then hit that part. I plan to give the exam in Aug-Sept timeframe. What would your suggestion be as to when I should give the NBMEs and other tests. Im principally using KLN,FA, Goljan for Patho. Im using the HY for the anatomy subjects. When should I start doing QBank or UW. All your assistance and guidance will be much appreciated.
For my last exam I did the KLN once and then put all the important info in FA and used that as my source.In additon to that I did QBank and UW also just once. Im trying and need some better format and direction.

Hey ZISZAG Im very sorry to hear that you fail the test
Can you please tell me what scores you had as cum.% correct in UW, did you took any NBME before the test?
Start with your weakest areas in the report they gave you, a 69 is a 171 right?
Now remember that UW is a learning tool, DONT use it as an assesment tool, for that use NBME.
I will stronglly recomend that you start using UW, and start doing the questions from what ever you are reading, do some notes and go over the FA in that area.
Try to take your first NBME by July 20, so you can see where you stand, and make the corrections on your weak areas.
Because you are so close of passing I stronglly think that after you have corrected your weka areas and you have consolidated your strong areas you are going to pass with more than 190.
