hello there i am going to start my residency in july and they make us come in in the last week of june for orientation week and also to get the ACLS certification. well, i have never been ACLS certified and i have no clue what it takes to get certified. so can anybody explain to me what we will be doing there and if i should prepare myself somehow for that and how hard it is. will we have to show our skills on a dummy or will we have a written or oral test? do i have to study certain material well in advance in order to pass or should i not do anything? i have absolutely no idea. thank you for your info have a good day

hey tachy i got a similar email the other day... first oyu have to take the BLS(basic life support-usually a day long course) then the acls is a 2 day course. both have a written test and practical. if you have access to the books i would read ahead so you are more comfortable with the info. email your pd about gettin the books. also this might help in your review: http://www.acls.net/ hope that is a start...i'm sure others will tell you more GL
