Up untill now i never thought about it but saw a few posts here confused about their year of graduation. On my Official Diploma/Degree, it says EXAMINATION HELD May 2001. Although completion of internship is not required in our country for degree to be issued This degree is DATED 13th Dec 2002. So by any chance is it possible that i will be considered within the 5yrs cut off window if i apply this year?

WELL i think you should be very careful in that . diploma is issued late.you compltered your studies in 2001 so it is 2001.donot falsify anything as the ecfmg can put a bar if any information is wrong.i had the same problem and checked with eras and everybody they confirm it from your medical school when u send the appliaction forms and in eras it is transmitted to the programs so donot put a bar on your career

ok so i found a saved summary of all the applications i have submitted to ecfmg. This is what i have submitted. Attended From : 1/1996 Attended To : 9/2001 Number of Years Attended : 5.0 Graduation Date : 09/2001 Diploma Date : 12/2002 Title of Medical Degree : M.B.B.S Internship Not required. Now did i mess up regarding graduation date?...But ECFMG has verified everything from my college. Is it even a big deal besides the residency cut off requirement.?

sarika graduation date is the month in which your fnal yr result was declared. i had my final professional exam held in nov 2005 and it is sated on my degree the result was declared in aprill 2006. my deans office writes our batch graduation date as april 2006 offcialy we were enrolled in medcial school untill the day our result was declared. my degree was issued in jan 2007 but my deans office recognizes april 2006 as our graduation date for the whole batch. i think you shud consult your deans offcie to get the official dates for ur graduation as in the records of your college.

I have same doubts,my final exams was on october 2002,the results was on early 2003 diploma issued on 2003.I should be 2003 graduate but my school for some reason call us 2002 draduates and on my transcrips it says that I graduated on 2002.I'm worried to put 2003 on my ERASE application then they might put a bar on my application. what do u suggest guys?

One thing is date of graduation and another thing is date of attendance. Date of Graduation is the date your diploma was issued. Date of Attendance should be from the date you first entered medical school until the last day you took classes in medical school. Last day of attendance does not necessary need to be the same as date of graduation.

the day you give your final exam is the date??/do u think that the program director and ecfmg is a fool?? sarika how will you expalin a 6 year medical school to the program director???/ they count years on fingers ???? will u tell i failed or my school is now 6 years ???? the program directors are very smart people with 30 years of dealing with people from different countries. once they verify from medical school that u were actual batch of 2001 ???you know the circumstances of providing false information??? donot make a fool of yoursef to get into residency

hey suz, Dont get all worked up for nothing. Its a real confusion among people if they should state their graduation date as the date their diploma was issued. As apurva has mentioned, he has confirmed this " according to state licensing boards and ecfmg - the date of ur degree is ur date of grad." Also i spoke with a friend who already has a position and she said the same thing. As for me, well i already wrote my year of graduation as 2001 and diploma issued 2001, so i cant go back and change anything. My credentials are all verified with my school so nobody is going back to my school anymore. No one is trying to cheat or falsify information, its just a little confusion that people have regarding this matter.
