Remember some people never pass - you passed it and that IS something. Don't give up your dream - once you become a doctor nobody will care what you got in Step1. It just opened another door for you, so go ahead!

Ok..if you can get 90's in your step 2, then you will improve your chance getting into residency.

getting a high-90s score in step 2, passing everything in first attempt is key now for you. as always, work on your apps.

one last thing, never even think of quitting as long as you have a feeling that you may make it. coz having that feeling means that you can.

no quitting! i got some stories for u...

a doctor who did the mle ages ago & passed w/ minimum scores couldn't get residency for 10+ years but right now he did. many of the doctors in new york who haven't got residencies for such a long time are now getting it. why? the time right now w/ this war in iraq, there's a huge need of doctors to fill in for the ones that have left. so this is your time!! there's a huge scramble to make the matches right now w/ all the openings. many dr'z right now are just somehow trying to pass so they can make the match in time while residencies are still takin in large numbers. see over time, these openings go up in number & then down in number just like how an economy goes up n' down. some will say this isn't true but i've seen these dr'z, n' i know these dr'z...n' i see the status here, i'm here in the states...i'm tellin u firsthand

so do not give up....

PPL WHO R NOT GETTING MORE THAN 90 % ARE NOT GETTING RESIDENCIES SO I ADVICE U NOT TO WASTE UR TIME ANY MORE N CONCENTRATE ON SOME THING ELSE..THATS MY ADVICE ..REST UP TO U

  #12

what do you mean by "try something else"? ... maybe the worst program in the US is better than the best in some other countries ...

ayeshasilman, that statement is not true. i know people who failed step 2, gave it again and got into residency - just last year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the right choice or plan of action differs for each person. obviously due to different ways of thinking, and different situations in life, we may choose diferently. but, it is never good to urge someone to give up.

my 2 cents.

starbrite is so so sooooo right.... we aren't your friends & we're giving you the facts of life...

i'm being honest, if i hadn't seen so many people who just passed w/ a 75, (that too ages ago) i wouldn't give u so much hope...n' i wouldn't sit here n' post a second time if it wasn't so important...

if you didn't have a chance, i would tell u that u wouldn't, but this is my message: U HAVE A CHANCE, take it!!

God may not bless you w/ a strong score but He did bless w/ this opportunity right? Who knows? Maybe u'll ace that second step...u won't know until u go through the process. Maybe the score you have now will give u that strenght to get a 99 on step 2.

Think to yourself. Later in life, will u regret not going through it? You'll think back, I had a chance & I didn't take it. what could have been?

Programs care more about step 2 then for step 1. Step 1 is more of a requirement though it helps to get a good score...but getting a 75 on first attempt is not the end of the world. I have a personal dear friend thatgot 75 in step 1 and just matched last year in a good program. NEVER give up on your dreams!!! Focus on studying hard for step 2....the friend I told you study hard to prove program directors that he was capable and got a 96 in ck...and even if you don't score very high in ck you can do it...I've heard of people doing it even three times and matching...advice is...never give up!!!...nerver surrender!!! Shake it up and move on from the ashes stronger then ever...
