In step 2cs. Many people said that you must be good in English. This made me nervous and anxious. I am IMG and seldom speak English. How good in Eng is required? speak continuously, no gap , not inspire, perfect gramma,..etc?? don't ask for repeat speaking? What I have to do when I can not understand all what they said.? Really need advice. Thank you very much

I hate to be practical here, but you have to be able to speak English to work with patients during your residency. Search for words occasionally will happen, but if you can't talk with your patients, will you be able to help their medical problems?

One of my ex-residents learned her best English by watching TV talk shows. It really shows American accents to the best.

Good luck - keep working on it. It's one of the things that is the hardest to get used to, especially since USA English can be so different from British English. If you work with Americans - ask them if they would gently correct you if they notice that you aren't saying something correctly. Speaking slower will help also.

Actually, a story from my recent cruise was that our waiter on board was from India (Arun) and none of the ladies at the table could understand him - except me. Since I have worked with physicians for over ...... lots of years (not telling how many - it's too scarey), I have gotten an ear for accents and I can understand many people. So, here I am translating his English for US English to the other women! Arun was laughing and told me that my language comprehension was really good.

A positive attitude to make changes for your future will help you more than you know.

Good luck! You can do it.

1. Does it matter how old I am?

2. I'm from the USA.

3. Does is matter if I am male or female?

Yes, I'm married. No, I can't get married to help anyone with a green card. More questions?

Im sorry for being so rude Please forge me but im kind of indiscrete im like a child i ask what comes to my mind SORRY
hahahhaha sorry to bother u I didn’t mean it... Really i didn’t mean to get in your nerves.
So many times I asked my self WHY people asked u ABOUT EVERYTHING and yesterday i realized the PC words above your avatar so I got curious……
Is very kind of a pc to help people around here
I asked how old are you because FOR SURE your not 20 i mean i wanted to know how long does it take for someone to be a PC
i asked where are u from because I ALWAYS TOUGHT YOU were an IMG
and finally i asked about your sex because bbb is a little bit ambiguous for me
Im not planning to marry ANYBODY
and i comprehend that u didnt answer my questions and thanks for your time
and sorry again but i thought a lot of strange questions when i saw the program coordinator tittle.

Hannibal - thanks for your "body guard" detail and trying to protect - that's so sweet.

Spitmetal - I because a PC because I left my first husband, moved home from Europe and had to get a job. I applied for a position and was interviewed. Three hospitals later, I am where I am and actually still having fun. Residents bring me presents from over the world - and I hang out here and offer free advice (which I hope get's listened to). Strange questions I am used to - just not on a forum like this. No offense taken.
