I am an img from India.Passed out in 2005.My step 1 score is 91.I got my step 2 score of 88.Thats why i was sad and thinking of what to do now.I have no USCE or USLOR.I am interested in Internal Med.
Do i stand a chance of getting into a decent residency. How many programs will i have to apply to be secured.Hope everything turns out well.Preparing for cs and trying to get any observership.
Do step 3 score play any role in getting of interview.Thanks.

really? you got to be kidding me. get over it.
your scores are fine. do your research in pickin programs and apply widely.

if you are depressed with scores like that then the match process will be very hard. cause scores are one factor and yours are fine. its the whole package. get you cs done and get ECFMg CERT, get some usce, and some us lors.

look around the forum. many got matched with scores like yours.....many with less.

Depressed ?

Scores are fine. As lilyny said, a lot of people have made it with way lower scores and not even having USCE, so the road is not closed yet. Others have matched with even only 2 interviews, so interview performance is also very important; so scores are only one part of the equation. Because you can have perfect scores and get all the interviews in the world, but if you do not perform well, you won't match.

Are you serious?

I never like to be rude to anyone but your statement just got on my nerves. Do you think 91 and 88 are low scores?? Then what do you want to say about a score of 75. Do you read before you post any message? Go through this forum and find out what exactly is needed to get into residency.

And one more thing GROW UP

Good Luck

It is right that your scores are not 99/99 but even these are considerd good, and your application will be considerd excellent if you get USA LORs

I subscribe to everybody else's point of view! Rather than being "depressed" about the "low" scores of 91 and 88, I would be more worried about phrases like "Passed out in 2005" because, by no standards (American, British, or anything else), was what you said acceptable English. I truly hope you meant that you GRADUATED in 2005!

come on guys. give him a break. why everybody is making fun of him? all of us are in the same boat.

as IMGs most of us including me don`t have a clear picture about the residency criteriae unless we have gone through the MATCH before!! even then, you know how uncertain things are.

and besides with all this accelerating competition everybody is worried sad

dont be dumb. u have a good score. even without usce if u were to apply to all 300 or so IM programs u will get around 65-100 interview invites. with usce u could get maybe 120-140 invites. if u r so worried go to atleast 30 and u will match. i had 85/78 and applied to about 170 psych programs and had 48 invites. im has 300-400 programs. i matched at #19. people please stop making posts like this. only those who have more than 3 attempts with below 80 scores and no step 3 have problems. go all out, aim high and be safe by covering ur ass. this means apply to all the programs both mayo and harvard as well as all the crappy ones. $ is the only limitation. also it would be tuff to go to more than 50 interviews as the season starts in mid oct and ends in early feb. good luck.

also only if ur going for derm, plastics or ortho u have problems. im is not competetive.

  #20

ur main worry is to find a good program where u may be able to get cards or whatever u like. u will match.
