Hi, silver i m from lahore still in medical sckool 4th yr and u no most ppl during this time period dont actually go for this exam so i really need someone to discuss and to coordinate i have started it a month or two before and plan to give INSHALLAH by the start of final yr. Wen did u graduate?

Hi I am from Karachi a Dowite. I graduated in 1994. Worked back home for around 6 years and now in Gulf for around same time. Writing Step one in July hopefully as registration not yet over. Medessential is a good book. It makes sense only if you have done Kaplan Lecture Notes at least once before or if you are a recent graduate/student and have studied well those basic concepts in college thoroughly. If not then there are no short cuts in this exam you have to study really very very hard. You can look up the experiences of previous successful candidates by searching the forum. There is a lot of useful information and good people here to help.

dare,
kaplan is good for beh. sci and anatomy...in fact kaplan covers everything in a really good way. so far i'm doing path. from kaplan. ppl also recommend goljan, so it all depends on what works for you. don't crowd yourself with too many books, find a couple that work and stick to them. path is important, so give it enough time.

I am also from Pakistan preparing for step1.
Dare , as you are still a student and I suppose they still teach you Pathology in your 4th year , as it used to be at our time. I would advise you to read a good text book while you are still in college. It is not just a matter of passing a test but this is the time when you build your concepts for life. I would say , there is no Pathology without Robbins.
Goljan is great for review but you can review a subject only when you know it. Just my two cents.

it is important to get your concepts in order right now. since some of those who have written are still students and in 4th yr. so now is the best time to get everything figured out. you know it now, you'll know it forever.
mle's are about concepts. the way we study in med school is just to get through the exams, but don't learn the material that way, learn it so that you'll always know it. i hated reading robbins, but got thru it, and now it's helping me.
and yes i hope we do manage to help each other out. one thing that always gets me is how majority of pakistanis always hide things and never want to share their knowledge. plz do!!!!!
