first, relax and calm down.

then wait for your score report to come in.

if you failed, maybe take a couple days off to clear your mind and set up a plan for studying. The best thing to do is to take the nbme and see what areas you are weakest in and study only those subjects. after going thru those subjects throughly, keep retaking the nbme every one to 2 weeks to see if you are improving in those weak areas.

who knows, maybe on your 2nd attempt you'll get a really good score, which (in my opinion) is better than barely passing the test with a 75 on your first attempt.

dont call yourself loser sad that may happen to any of us but every time u sign in this will make you think you are a loser...actually there were things u did somehow wrong maybe and youll Im sure score 90+ after correcting them with this experience smiling face

plzz start with changing the name first smiling face then find out wut was wrong ( and tell them to us cuz I have 2.5 months grin) and start back as nothing happened ! just count the exam like an NMBE smiling face

we will all do it !! in which ever attemp I dont care !!

best luck

I agree with Feyza change your nick that would be the first move in the right direction. Then post your study technique may be you will get a good feedback. When and if you change the nick do let us know that you are the guy/gal.

Hi guys, i got my score..failed with 180/73. very disappointed and sad. i am thinking of applying for a recount with the hope for a score change....
Could you please explain, where i should apply for it- USMLE or ECFMG. and what is the procedure? i couldn't find any info on this on usmle and ecfmg websites.
I would highly appreciate your help. Thanks very much in advance.

The OASIS trick is not 100% accurate... try to relax and wait for the score report...

hi, i'm kind of in the same situation as bigloser(and yeah! i'm with everyone on changing the name!). i studied like anything and didn't pass. it is demoralizing but you have to get back and say no big deal, i can do it. a previous poster was write about saying to consider it like a practice test. it's not that we don't know the material, rather test taking strategy is sometimes something we need to work more on.
best of luck to you.

i would appreciate it if anyone would be nice enough to give me some feedback on how to restudy. i studied from kaplan and did FA. i admit that perhaps i should have done more practice questions. but sometimes the info. isn't all in kaplan. so can someone plz guide me as to what other books are useful? thanks

here goes my study experience, i prep for almost 1 yr, studied and revised kapln notes twice for all sub, patho BRS+goljan, then FA + q book, then kaplan notes 3 rd revise, then did q bank for 1 mon, then just did 20% of UW as i didnt have time,
UW-45%

hey big loser when is everybody including you going to get it
kaplan books are REVIEW books only they are not meant to learn
new material you need other books

Take it easy ram3, no need to be a tool. Sheesh.

To you that didn't pass, how did you go about assessing yourselves as you studied? How did you know you were ready to write the exam when you wrote it? Did you take an NBME? Are you current students or grads from years ago? I think these questions, or the answers to these questions, may shed light on how to approach things the next time around.

thanks for sharing beause I was personally wondering if every one in the forum passes boards as I wait anxiously and began to wonder what IF.. so just because you all shared lets me know either way I can share my results and get the support I need.

God Bless and strengthen you all that failed and shared. Because I was wondering what I would do and if I know I have somewhere to turn where individuals have been there it helps. Family is ok but they really can't feel it, like someone who has walked in your shoes....if that makes sense

Took the test Last March 16 2007 and failed. 182/74. I used FA and Kaplan Qbook. Had 10 weeks time to study. I also tried USMLE SECRETS for step1 in between. My Kaplan scores were mostly between 60s to 70s. I must admit that my exam was really exhausting. I wished I had practiced my test taking skills more. I came out of the exam room drained but confident that I have answered >60% of the questions right. Anyway, my friend from the east coast told me to take it as a blessing in disguise, coz it will be more difficult for me to get a match for a grade of 75.

Its been 10 years since I graduated med school (IMG) so I think that was a factor, since you kinda have to "re-learn" some of the stuff. I was just an average student in med school and now that i have a family to take care of, juggling all those responsibilities can be a headache.

Could you guys give me some advise me how to restart studying? Should I start UW ASAP or on the last month before my test (its on June, btw)? Im more determined now and I plan to get a score >90.
