hello everyone
just wanted to get some feedback from you guys. this is the only place where i find myself safe. its like a small community, and a family. i passed this horrible exam on fourth attempt. haven't taken step2ck/cs. planning to give it soon. im just worried if im going to match or not next year 2008; im very concerned, as if i don't match, i might disaapoint my parents/wife/family. does anyone here know someone who has matched into FM or IM; if i just know of some hope; it would give me energy to apply for a match next yeay. i hope to get a very good score on first attempt and study very very hard for it. pleae feel; free to give your opinion. as the days are coming so close, im getting very worried about it.

How much was your score? Getting matched depends upon other factors like scores, your preferable state, what have you been doing since graduation, your speciality of interest, good LORs etc and above all your personality and confidence in yourself. You can get better idea if you go to other rooms in the forum about matching.

im still a med student, do have LORs, free to move around acroos as far as geographic location, would like to go into FM. ill be finished in three weeks from now and then im going to prepare for step2 ck; cs is in a month. i don't know if i should give it a try; do i have a hope?? a chance to match? i dont know if im going to match?? very worried about it..........

Nobody will know for sure. But you have to try, if that's what YOU really want (not your family, wife, etc). If you were born to be a doctor, you won't be happy doing anything else.

good score in STEP II, AND CS WITH LOR AND OTHER EXPERIENCES LIKE VOLUNTEERING WITH RED CROSS, LOCAL HOSP EMERGENCY DEPT, ETC I AM SURE U WILL GET THE RIDE.
LOOK SCORE IS VERY IMPORTANT BUT THE OTHER FACTORS ALSO CONTRIBUTE IN YOUR RANKING IN THE RESIDENCY SELECTION BECUASE U GET POINTS INTERNALLY DURING THE SELECTION PROCEDURE. HOW MANY POINTS, EACH HOSP HAS DIFFERENT CRITERIA. THATS WHY PEOPLE WITH LOW SCORE WITH GOOD LOR, EXP, RESEARCH AND OTHER STUFF, GET CHANCE. SO SCORE CAN BE COMPENSATED A LITTLE BIT
SO WORK HARD AND KEEP IT UP

I know a guy that fail each step 3 times and today he is a practicing psiquiatra.
Another dude just got into Family medicine and he failed step1 2 times and 1 time step2 and he is happy as a worm
you just need to look for what states will give you residency, ohio will not give license if you fail the exam, and they are other states with different rules.
but hey is STEP1 so prepare to be superman on step2 and you havent finish school and good LOR dude you are getting a residency spot in the US

If still in med school, try to get USCE by doing your elective in USA, so will get connection, & contacts too.
