with B1/ B2 visa?

No... you are allowed to educatinal activities no longer than 12 weeks (I not 100% sure about the # of weeks... you can check the dept of state website and look for B1/B2 visas)

No, There is no limitation, you can do whatever you want while you are on B as long as you don't break the low or get paid or have not an expectation like receiveing a MPH certificate.

thanks for the reply guys. But while filing for a J1 visa, is it advisable to mention that i was doing externship on B1/ B2 visa?

Looks like a tricky situation.

Why you want to tell everyone what are you doing? Anyway, it is OK to tell them.

I dont want to tell them about the externship. That means i have a gap in my CV for nearly a year. I dont know how to fill the gap in the CV. Any input is appreciated. Thanks
