what are the books that first year residents read during residency:
1)for history taking and physical examination
2)as a pocket book
3)for theory reading for boards

Taracson's is good as pocket-book.

no one really studies physical diagnosis. And for theory we all use UpToDate. I carry the MGH "blue" book. It is a great pocket guide.

I am using: A Pocket Guide to Physical Examination and History Taking of Barbara Rates.

This is good.

Search on Amazon if you need.

The Blue book ... Mass General Hospital Pocet Guide to Medicine or Guide to Medicine ... something like that. That's what most of us carry. It's a great book actually. It is blue, hence me calling it the Blue book.

For History and Physical: my program reccommends Bate's guide to history and physical examination

pocket book:massachusetts internal medicine mannual, washington mannual

tasacoff's pharmacopenia is excellent for doses and trade names..

In my initial days I used On-Call for Internal medicine too.
