Hi guys, I matched into 1 yr IM prelim. What can I do after that?
I want academics in either E med, anesthesiology or IM.
My mistake was that I ranked prelim before categorical programs.

1. continue at same prog if pgy2 opens up
2. apply to diff prog for pgy2
3. reapply thru eras for intern yr
4. look for advanced pgy2 spots in gas or other spec like that
gl and dont make the same mistake of rankin prelim ahead of categ again..

i am soooooooo confused
so you supposed to match into categorical positon first (let's say GI-gy) where you start PGY1 in 15 months after match, but before that you suppose to complete 1 year of preliminary....and how to get that? match is over...
and what is a concequence of matching into preliminary first?

i understand that i don't have to worry about it or think about it at all (toooooo competitive, not real, etc), but still....how is it done?

hey tocket2008? are you the same as tocket 2007? its good to hear from you. congrats on the first year...i'm in the same situation. i thought you got some prematches for anesthesia?

i will do as the wise doc apurva advised...just start and reapply for for advance 2009 or a category 2008(which means i repeat intern year again).

Do we have to participate in match again for categorical 2008 or advanced 2009?
I know only that we can be lisenced after 1 yr if we pass step 3.
But if I want academics, what to do next?raised eyebrow
