Hi, i am an IMG, i live in seattle. I am preparing for usmle step1, but in the mean time I complete step1 and 2, i want work to earn some money. So could someone give me some information about what kind of work can i find (in the medical field)? like for example if it is possible to participate in some research works but before passing step1 and 2? Or they need only if completed step1 and 2? I want to ask also about internship or observership. even in these case i have to pass first step1 and 2 or i can participate even without? is there someone who know their requirements? I hope to get some information. Thank you.

You can try to find some research works. They don't ask for the license. Medical research is different from medical practice, you don't need license at all. If you have no experience, you can ask for research assistant first. But the salary is not good, around $30,000 per year. Depend on where you work. But should be enough for yourself. You can use the spare time to read your USMLE books. Lots of IMG people got through by this way.

can u tell me how to get a research assitant?do we need to have an insdie contact to get one? I searched some but mosts are quite competive with Phd or experiences reqiured.
