Get married with a citizen, the easiest way. But it sucks that you are marrying someone just for that.

well it can only b done in pgy2. bcoz the program has to prove that they cannot get a us citizen to do the job since 1 yr. am a bit hazy on this. anyways in pgy2 u need to convince ur pd that u wil pay for it. the hospital has to show that they wil keep u on as faculty post residency. u need a letter from them saying that. and viola ur ready to file in eb2. a pd who is doin this for the first time might be very reluctant. ur best bet is to hire a lawyer who has dealed with doctors on h1 to gc before. take legal advice. it wil b worth the 500$ a 2nd - more treachorous but rewarding option is filin under eb1. but u need to have stellar lors/publis/reco letters to do that. in short u have to exceptional with phds or in a top program. again this is very lawyer dependant. every1 from rocket scientists to world champion skateboarders have used it. gl apurva

hey apurva, When a program says they will sponsor GC in 2nd yr... how much does it cost to the resident. I dont know about u guys, but after the ERAS application, travelling and living in US and H1B application now, I am broke. I amcounting on my next two months salary in UK to support me during the first few months of residency.

do you get paid while in j1 or h1b visa? do you have to pay taxes??? Are there any programs that sponsor Green cards??? If yes which ones??????? If you get an h1b visa, after you finish your training you still are h1b??? What I meant is: yours h1b visa status ends with your training??????? Or it last 6 years whether of the duration of your training??? How easy an h1b person could transform to green card??? Which are the requirements?????? If you enter to an internal medicine program with a j1 visa if you want to study endocrinology you need a j1 waiver????? After your h1b visa expires could you renovate it? If you have an h1b visa and it expires you could get another h1b visa from another sponsor????

No... J1 won't allow to complete the 9 years, you HAVE to return after the 7 years passed. Better to get a H1, and then apply for a GC (No H1 to J1... NEVER)
