My bf and I have just checked our score, and we both passed. It is amazing!
This forum helped me a lot, thank you everyone!
We took the exam on Jan 3rd, in LA. We spent 1 month preparing this exam.
Books we used : first aids and usmleworld
First aids: a great book especially the patient’s notes.
USMLEWORLD: have more clinical scenarios than first aids which are very helpful.
The key is: practice, practice and practice.
Each of us went over the books individually for 1 week. After that we practiced with each other. We practiced every case in first aids and uw. Every morning I practiced 12 cases, and late afternoon and night, my bf practiced 12 cases. We were trying to make everything similar to the real exam, like the drape, physical exam, as well as the patient’s note. And we were trying to beat each case in 20mins. At the end of that day, we will tell each other the mistakes we made and gave some advices.
Before I prepared this exam, I was really very nervous and anxious, because English is not my first language. I am afraid that they can not understand what I am talking and I can not understand them either. The patient notes are also difficult for me. I spent a lot of time on first aids patients’ note, tried to learn their sentence structure and their phrases…..
I just try to tell everyone that be confident, and trust yourself.
P.S.:Test center in LA is not that bad as people said.
