A 36-year-old man has a 4-week history of a generalized, intensely pruritic papular rash. He is otherwise well. His 9-year-old son also has itching. On examination, there is a generalized rash consisting of excoriated papules and vesicles on wrists, sides of fingers, arms and buttocks. No other abnormalities are noted. Which one of the following is the most likely diagnosis?

1. Pityriasis rosea
2. Neurodermatitis
3. Scabies
4. Impetigo (pyoderma)
5. None of those listed

suspicious for scabies
hands- fingers - fits
arms - inner surface and sides of trunk
not sure about buttocks

I think it's scabies since it is readily transmitted by skin-to-skin contact, clothing, bedding, or by sleeping in the same room with an infected person. It causes delayed hypersensitivity response, leading to a papular eruption after one moth of infestation. Papules appear on finger, wrists, elbows, armpits, areolae of female breast, male genitals, and buttocks.
