egomaz2001, ram3, meddoc2003, carvedilol80, orangeade: thanks guys!!! my exam experience: resources used: first aid for step 2 cs, usmle world, master for step 2 cs, blueprints step2 cs, case-based simulation for step 2 cs, textbook physical diagnsois and rx, digitaldoc's website (that guy is amazing with tips/mnemonics on how to pass the exam). i know it's crazy to go over them.. but the only best two we used constantly are the first two plus digitaldoc's site. duration of study: 1 month, about 8-10 honrs a day, in which i generted 28 pages of notes from first aid, usmleworld and my own talking pattern for cs.. cases tested similar to those covered in first aid/usmleforum (10/12).. the rest two r counseling and telephone call. telephone call was brutal b/c we really had no idea what to ask, we both finished in 3 mins. i think i will expand more on the key issue of practise: the key really is to practise in a real-simulation... we each take turns and practise at least 12 to 16 patients timed-mode daily with at least 4 cns in between and we each have to take 12-16 patients' note daily. the idea is to wear yourself out and to see if you can handle your fatigue and mental breakdown.. another thing about pracise, we tend not to be cooperative to each other and always ask many many challenging questions to each other.. here is what we find: cns is most difficult part to finish, you have no time to do all but rather just do some of cns maneuvers is fine.. for example, we never properly ask questions about mini-mental status exam to each, rather just ask where u r, what time it is, and what is your name? on your 6th or 7th patient note, you dont wanna do it anymore b/c fatique and this is the key point of practise.. always practise conselling b/c those r not covered in either first aid/usmleforum.. we usually practise on the following topics which we think r relevant: STD, AIDS, gay or lesbian, the girl gets raped, the guy with masturbatoin addiction, the guy cheating on his wife or vice versa; the last two i made up but u can add anything for that matter just to test interpersonal interaction skills... another thing, you have to ACT!!!!!! really, very very important.. if you are an actor, you r half-battle won. one time my gf plays depression really great that i cannto resist laughing during interaction. no matter how many practises you do, you still felt overwhelming anxiety during the exam.. i got this severe cramping stomache which i thought i might have hemorragic shock from stress gastritis.. but after couple encouters, u would be cool and ready to roll. looking back, the whole cse exam was really fun and tremendously stressful. good luck to those who r still preparing the exam

hi, gave my cs.This is what I did on every case knocked, greeted, introduced myself, draped, washed hands, relevant history and review of systems.PAMHUGSFOSS,did relevant clincal exam, summarising my findings, showing empathy, thanking for co-operation,counsellingWrote fairly good patient notes, except the mistakes which are as follows: Could not counsel in 1 case. Forgot to give smoking counseling in 1 case.Made two errors of significance In one case though i did collect history of HRT but did not write in patient note and it was important in D/D of that case. In one case forgot to take Menstrual history and it was also one of the requirements to rule out pregnancyin that case.other than this rest all 10 cases almost did everything from knocking,to asking if they have any questions at the end.I really dont know how they rate , for all those who have passed and who might have commited similar or other mistakes give me your opinion.
