If you star a residency with a j1 visa is it possible to exchange it for a h1b visa???? How easy is to get a j1 waiver??? Is it possible to get into a residency with an f1 or m1 visa? If I’ll graduate in july but my md degree will arrive until December, because in my country the bureaucracy is really slow, is there another paper I can send to ecfmg to get the certificate????? Im asking this question because as far as I know you send your papers trough eras to the Program directors in September-october.. am I wrong?????? Can you take step 3 without ecfmg certificate?

1. You have to get waiver from Department of State before any change of status from J-1 Visa 2. It depends how many people apply for waiver. 3. I don't know, but you can do your residency on EAD 4. No, it is not possible. ECFMG will send your Medical School a letter that should be signed and stamped by them. It usually takes time, but you can ask ECFMG to send things using courier service and you pay the fees. You can call them and let them know, then you have to write or fax a request letter and open an user account on for example DHL that they can use it. By the way, it is good to have the certificate as early as possible, but don't be mad at it. 5. ECFMG Certificate is one of the requirements to apply for step 3 USMLE.
