Hi there... this is my first post here (just found this website), and unfortunately my question has to be related to the fact that I didn't pass step 1. Got 73/178. Was wondering... would anyone know if there is any point in paying for a recount? Is there really a chance that the score would change??? Guess it wouldn't improve to a 99, if at all... but maybe passing is still better than having to go through the whole process again... Please, somebody tell me if they know of anyone who has requested a recount, and whether or not the recount changed anything. Thanks in advance.

i tried it last year..it was so messed up..missed it by a point on the THREE digit scale..ahh..you can imagine how crazy i was going looking at a 181..anyways..i tried the recount..nothing happened..ive never heard of it getting reversed..but its only like 50 bucks i think so it never hurts right?..i mean that money is NOTHING compared to what a pass would be

I had done that way back in 1997 and they said its the same so lost further bucks. They will never change it I have never heard of it. Dont waste your money. I agree with Feyza. You will regret later if you pass with 76 being an IMG so consider it a blessing in disguise, get over with you depression and study.

Hi guys, i got my score..failed with 180/73. very disappointed and sad. i am thinking of applying for a recount with the hope for a score change.... Could you please explain, where there i should apply for it- USMLE or ECFMG. and what is the procedure? i couldn't find any info on this on usmle and ecfmg websites. I would highly appreciate your help. Thanks very much in advance.

I know only one case of recount-one of my seniors went for recount and his score changed from 80 to 92 but we couldnt verify it-and its still a mystery for us that if the scores really changed at all
