Do program directors really look at what you published in your research? How much of a difference does research really make in getting an interview? thanks

It depends if in that program research in the same area is held, and if one of the priorities of the program is research... most programs prefer that applicants have clinical expérience instead

my interview (with PD) in the hospital where I will do residency now was on the paper that I have sent for publication. The thing I had in common with the PD was his interest in EM and my paper was about EM too.. so we had a long chat on the methods and the results and conclusions.. the irony was hat since my paper was not published, I did not take a copy of the proof read pdf version of my paper with me to the interview... but at the end of the interview.. I went to the PC, accessed a computer.. printed of my copy and gave it to the PD at the very end.
