Why every body keep on saying California is competetive. Can I put it other way, that all those who match in California are above average??

No, I wasnt matched in California but a guy with same credentials as me matched in California, thats why I was wondering, so does that mean that california community hospitals are good in getting their residents a fellowship, completely clueless

I think a better way to say it is: Are residents in CA good at getting fellowship positions? No hospital will ever get you a position. ..It is YOU who should get a fellowship. No one will ever take care of you and your career except you. Be proactive! I personally don't think CA is any different from other states... But I don't know the statistics... The bottom line, at the end it is up to you entirely! If you work hard, you can make it happen. If not, no program can help you.

The people who match in CA usually have good connections and strong LoRs.
