Whats the difference between: 1) A person who has been vaccinated and shows NO documented response to the vaccine AND 2) A person who is a NON-Responder??? I'm asking because according to UW: in case of 1 - we have to give a 2nd course of vaccination upon needle stick exposure in case of 2 - we have to give HB Ig upon needle stick exposure Since vaccinated people have surface antibody (HBsAb), i guess NO documented response would be someone who was never tested to see if he has sAb ??? And a non-responder would be NO sAB after vaccination.....????? Let me know if i should post the question.

I think that person with no documented vaccin response (after vaccination, they have no anti-HBs Abs) because there is some mutation in the antigen after vaccinated --> considered as not vaccinated--> Full course vaccine again and HBiG for postexposure prophylaxis Non-responder is defined as anti-HBs < 10 U/mcl after vaccination --> it is also consider as protective, but not for a long time. In postexposure prophylaxis--> HBIG is needed If it is possible, pls post the full Qs good luck
