Thank you aimfor2007 and doc08 for your good words and encouragement.
still 160 pages of FA done. It is little bit boring comparing to Step 1 and lengthy. But I will keep on reading. Need to do a better work today
yesterday UW 2 blocks- 58 & 60 had done many foolish mistakes

- read as much as possible UW (if 100 pages

Out of studies for a while....Family matters at the end of the day exhausted no time to study
but managed to read half of FA for CS
Yesterday UW 71
today
- one block UW
- finish FA CS
- goback to FA CK ( which is half done)
My plan
- three weeks- study fir CK (80%) + CS (20%)
- next three weeks CS (80%) + CK (20%)
- One week 100% CS and do CS
- four weeks 100% CK and do CK
for CK remaining,
- half of FA first read (it takes me a lot of time)
- UW half
- second read IM (OB, Paed,Psy,Surgery-second read if I have enough time only otherwise will not)
- Kaplan Q bank
- revise FA at the end again

- already practiced two cases for CS with a friend
- 40 pages of FA CK
- UW one block plus UW OB&GYN used Qs

My little bundle.....yeah she is doing good, but I don't have time to study. She needs me all the time to be around her.
My CS on June 21st but try my best to get an earlier date then I can concentrate for at least 6-7 weeks at the end for CK. Still I have a lot of weak points and couldn't even touch books for the second reading. So I need time for CK
Yesterday,
- UW 3 blocks 58, 63, 65
- FA CK 30 pages
- 2 cases practiced
Today's target
- Finish FA CK
- 2 uw blocks (need to aim high)
- 2 cases CS

btw, r u making notes out of the UW explanations?
for me it takes forever to go through the explanations, any tips for quick reading?

doc08 I did note down certain things from the explanantions (which are new to me and things that i can never keep in my mind ) in point form in cards while I was preparing for step 1. i didn't do it yet this time. I'm doing timed, mixed unused Qs right now and only ten blocks remainig. I have subscription for one and half more months (and probably my husband will extend it because I postponed CK as I'm doing CS first).
So I've planned to finish first round in a couple of days and start again timed but subject wise, while reading second round. Then I will note down in cards most essential things that I cannot keep in my memory as well as things that confuse always and will revise while travelling, waiting etc.. because i keep them in my hand bag.

doc 08 for quick reading.. best thing is to go through explanations just after the block. So that Qs are fresh in your mind and no need to read the Q again. You remember why you chose that incorrect answer, the logic behind that and other queries that came to your mind as well. So that you can clarify everything. at the same time I skip certain explanations which are obvious and I' m through with. But this is not an advisable thing. (I did read all the explanantions for step one)

But I rescheduled my CS again so that I have time to study CK well at the end. So my CS in 15 days. Only 13 days to study. Anyway will do it. so good bye for a while for CK prep. I WILL BE BACK AGAIN IN 16 DAYS

i am actually just highlighting as i am reading the explanations.
and for CS, 13 days is plenty of time
i finished CS.
i did UW and FA
although i felt UW was more than enough
in FA i liked the explainations for the differential diagnosis at the end of each case
also i just wanted to say that , practice CNS examination well, becuase its soooooo long and also we just need to do relevent stuff.
dont get upset if u run out of time in one or 2 cases, i actually ran out of time during cns case, but i just wished the patient calmly and came out.... if u do rest of the cases well, its not a big deal
also smiling, shaking hands, being nice is equally important
thats all i can think of right now, u can ask me anything u want, i will do my best to help.
i guess as everyone says practice practice....practice !!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a good idea if you going to have the Qbank just before the exam, then you can go through all the highlighted things.

OK I'm back
My exam July 28th Approx 5 weeks to go
My Plan for next 3 weeks
- Finish 2nd read
- finish Kaplan q bank
- finish incorrect Qs of UW
There for for one day
- 4 blocks Kaplan Q bank followed by explanations
- one UW blck
- 2 hours reading
Very tight schedule but without adhering to it cannot finish this to do NBME three weeks prior to the exam
Today June 18th 12.00 noon
- Did 3 blocks Kaplan , just above avarage.... need to improve
- to be done,
- One more block + explanations of all
- one UW CVS + Renal
- Finish Renal IM

hey malithahe, i am also taking exam around same time.
in ur experience, between UW and kaplan q bank, which do u find better, in terms of explainations, q format and HY topics coverage?

Kaplan Qs are long..very very long.. seems to be easy when doing But I'm not scoring well. Either it is difficult or I'm stupid or due to long Qs no time to think and pick the best answer. Explanations..well described
UW qs not that long..have to think and mentally work-out before picking up an answer, but time more than enough, usually I finish in 45 - 50 min, My average is less than Kaplan

we r doctors, our brains must working in pretty good condition, we just have to oil and nourish it to get high scores !!!!!
scores will improve as we keep doing our revisions
