An 18-year-old woman comes to the physician because of knee pain that has been present for 5 years. The pain is made worse by prolonged sitting and by going up and down steps. She has 10 degrees of hyperextension of both elbows. She becomes apprehensive when laterally directed pressure is applied to the patella. X-ray films show no abnormalities

A ) Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction

B ) Arthroscopic partial meniscectomy

C ) Quadriceps strengthening exercises

D ) Sympathetic blockade

E ) Total knee replacement

F ) Upper tibial osteotomy

Well, the patellofemoral pain syndrome does not explain 10 degrees of hyperextension of both elbows, but I go with (C)

C agreed but what about sympathetic blockade.as pain getting worse on prolong sitting,going upstairs and downstairs, something indicating vasculr origin

well its right tha is patellofemoral knee pain and as far as hyperextension is concerned it is present in some children n so in adults n the only treatment is to do strenghtening exercises ...
