My husband is going to work on this May in the States. He will hold J1 visa while working there. We are going to marry apply for visa. I have some questions regarding applying for visa. 1. If I want to participate in 2008 Match , which type of Visa should I apply for? J 2 or visitor In case I am success in 2008 matching process, 2. If I am holding J2 visa, Could I receive my own J1 visa in case I can match? 3. Can I change from J2 visa to H1 B visa after passing step 3 ? If I can't do that, I should apply for only visistor visa. 4. If I am holding for visitor visa, Can I stay in The states longer than 6 months without going outside the US. Thank you very much in advance for all replies.

u should have told ...is the j1 of ur husband has 2 yrs Home country Residence Requirment. 1- u can use both for the cs and the interviews...but u can do residency on j2 2-yes u can " not sure"...but better do it on j2...so u dont need to do your own waiver 3- if ur husband j1 visa has 2 yr HRR....no u cant convert ur j2 to h1 4- u can apply for extension and stay for upto 1 year.
