Hi everyone, I am an IMG & graduated from med school about 5 yrs back. I have been trying to get into a residency program in Canada for 2 yrs now..no luck..not even interviews! I think i have fairly decent scores in the exams. So these are questions for someone who has matched in the past or this yr..1. 1. How important are the scores? 2. What is the key to get interviews? 3. Are observerships important? If so, Is it important that they be done where you are going to apply to?e.g are Ontario observerships only recognised in Ontario? & Do you have to work at some big recognised hospital?? 4. Is research experience important? I've been trying to find answers to this, but have had no luck so far. So if anyone is willing to share their experience, I'd really appreciate it. It'll help many of us out there who are struggling to get into a residency program. thanks!
