hello..
well just back from exam and thought id share some..well first of all..i can tell you that the exam started off really really well..first block went amazing!..then 2nd block and after..oh man..there were some super obscure questions..i think if i would have to compare them to any of the NBME's, the only one that comes CLOSE is nbme 4..and the exam was tougher than that..usmle world i had a cum. average of 66 percent..but i honestly thought the exam was tougher..i could always come up with a diagnosis, but they would ask the WEIRDEST most obsure things about that diagnosis..oh man..and pharm..it was 70 percent graphs..it wasnt too bad..the thing i had a LOT of which i did not expect was biostats..sooo many tough equations..patho was my strong point so im hoping that went ok..LOST of graphs for physiology..know even the ones you dont expect them to test you on..behavioral was easy for the most part..all doctor patient stuff..LOTS AND LOTS of repro and breast stuff were tested in weird ways..and there were at least 8-10 questions where you HAD to be able to identify the slide in order to diagnose..when i practiced i was 90 percent of the time able to diagnose based on the presentation so i wasnt as familiar with the slides which i regret..had a few angiograms..a few weird EKG questions which im hoping are experimental..molecular was really tough..anat. and neuro were pretty straight forward..histo and cell bio were TOUGH!!..they were SOOOO picky..im sooo hoping a lot of that was experimental because there are things that ive never seen..and ive completed usmlerx, qbank, usmleworld, robbins, NMS..you name it..i think ive done it in my prep..so not being able to even recognize thigns was scary..the worst feelign is when yo uare reading the whole question and you are sooo happy that you know the diagnosis..and then they ask you soem WEIRD obscure thing at the end..and the answer choices look like they are from mars..you feel like the fact that you KNOW what the diagnosis is, doesnt put you at an advantage over those who DONT..and it SHOULD..honestly..i dont know how i would change my studying if i could do it over..all i can say..is that micro was very very straight forward..pharm was too for the most part..patho was very very aggressive..but if youve taken step 2 you are at a GREAT advantage..molecular and cell were off the planet..neuro was ok..so was anat..physio was quite tough..if you guys have a chance to get through that physio qbank..do it..thats one thing i regret not getting a chance to do.and i KNOW it will be my downfall..questions you think that are really tough on physio qbank and you think they would never ask.COME UP!!..i think the most accurate source was usmleworld..but like i said..i dont know..i still felt the exam was a little tougher..i had some really obscure questions..but we shall see..let me know if you have any questions..

Hey,
I totally agree with MYTIMENOW. With all possible material you had and still wierd questions??? I know people who scored 282/99 only with qbook.
Just study, work hard and understand!!!

thanks a lot guys..i know that everyone stands very loyal to first aid..but please..when studying..take it much much much much more into depth..use first aid only as a guide of concepts to learn, but take it 3 to 4 steps further..if dealing with endocrinological diseases for example..learn the disease, treatment and prevention...the physiology..then learn the 2nd messgengers associated with it..then take it even further and learn the mechanism by which the 2nd messengers act..study every topic to this depth..because they seem to be testing to that depth these days which they never did in the past..thanks for the support and ill try to answer any questions yall may have

peggy..i too was a skeptic like you..and i think these people that you know that scored a 99 with just qbook did so on the exam that was administered before this past january..which was a COMPLETELY different format..the exam is set up completely different now..i have a friend that took it a few days after me and he had a very similar experience to me..hopefully the questions are graded based on the level of difficulty and how others performed on similar questions..if so..hopefully ill be ok..but if its graded straight up..i have no idea what to expect..whoever your friend is that jsut did qbook and got a 99..if they did that in the past few months..they are literally geniouses..my qbook average was 73 percent..qbank average was 71 percent..usmlerx average was 74 percent..world was 66 percent..and i still thought it was REALLY tough..so kudos to your friend..ill let you guys know when i get my score..

peggy..btw..you must mean 262/99..your friend...who just did qbook..they def. did not score a 282..because the highest score in the nation this past year was some where in teh 270's by a student at UT southwestern med. school..and the year b4 that was in the 270's also by a tufts student..

Hi dear Joseph:
DO not be so upset because I had similar experience like you in a few of my tough medical exams ( not USMLE), in the way that after the exam session I felt like I will never pass, and at last, I passed with a high score! So do not be too upset because many off your answers that you r not sure about them may be correct!

yeaa like hedieh...whenever I came out of the room with wet eyes I did good and whenever I was euphoric I was like damn bad :S hope the same happens to you...
I dont know how to feel LOL I read your experience yesterday girl^interrupted and I was like yup !! see ...ull do it !! now Im having stomach cramps again
