Hey,
I took my exam on the 21st of March. just 3 days ago. My step 1 experience was quite horrible and I was mentally expecting a similar kind of traumatic experience for step 2 as well.
However, the exam was a pleasant surprise. From talking to people who took the exam before, I heard the questions were really long and the answer choices all seemed to be very difficult to choose between. However I didn't find that at all. There were some long questions, but not any longer than some UW world questions. And there were many, many questions that were literally just 3-4 lines long. Overall, I think conrad fischer's lectures and UW helped the most. I saw many things which seemed to have been lifted right out from UW. I hope the score is better this time around. I'll wait for the result before posting more about my experience.

did u do kaplan q bank..if yes do u think it helped.
what about nbme ...did u take any of those.

Salam,
first..congratulations that you give ur exam and got a pleasent experience and wish you a great score ..
If I am not mistaken you are from Pakistan ..If yes then i want to know where did you give your exam ..The reason i am asking that i have a horrible experience in my step 1 ..I took date for karachi center but when I wen to center in exam day the computer crush in between the test ..the staff told me that I have to book my dates for other center like lahore or islamabad...after one month I book my date for islamabad center because lahore center also get the same problem...if u gave ur exam in Karachi center then tell me then i can decide...
second whar q sources u use....I am using UW ...guide me if u used kaplan q bank ..is that worth...I am doing UW now a days ...plus making notes ...is that enough to get good scores...some people in this forum telling that UW have some mistakes and exam is more difficult then UW ...this decreses my moral and getting me soooo confused ...kindly guide me ...

please tell what was the question strength like. was it like usmleworld, kaplan q bank.
did you do nbme. is it ssimilar to it. and also tell how much medicine, pedia, surgery .......in your exam.
what was teh length of the question.
please tell me. exam is next week.

@sera: No I didn't do the Kaplan Qbank, only UW. I did UW very thoroughly. I didn't finish revising it all over again, but I had done it very well the first time around and managed to revise about 60 percent all over again. I didn't take the NBME because I'm too chicken! I don't want to know how badly off I am.
@hallachi: I did mine at the islamabad center. The islamabad center is actually famous for being very good, even better than prometric centers in the US. I have very rarely heard of any problems with them. The staff is friendly and helpful and the center is clean, with a wonderful view of the Margella Hills when you step outside. I'd definately recommend it to you. I gave them full marks in the end-of-exam survey.
My exam was much easier than UW. I was expecting really twisted and tricky questions were at least 2-3 options would all seem like the correct answer. That is what UW used to do all the time. The exam was much more straightforward. There was mostly one clear answer, with the others options being obviously incorrect. Basically, if you had read it in the kaplan books and UW explainations, then you'd know the answer right away. I never got a question where I felt there was some devious trick to it. I read 'lets see' 's exam experience and it matches very closely with my own. In the step 1 exam, I came out feeling absolutely terrible. In this exam, I felt that it wasn't bad at all. It's been 4 days since my exam, and I'm nice and relaxed right now whereas four days after my Step 1 exam, I was literally (no exaggeration) having nightmares about my exam questions (I got 85 in the end).
Anyway, my result is now out yet. I hope the result is good in the end.
@anothergoljanfan: I hadn't done kaplan qbank, so I can't say how easy or otherwise it was compared to that. The real exam was much easier than UW. UW really came through for this exam.

thanks a lot Dr pak..I realy get some relaxation after reading your experience ...I am feeling low now a days ..dont want to study because I came across some horrable experiences and feeling like I cannot make this exam ...but now feeling better...and again tighten my bucckle to win the race...praying to you to get good scores...
