  • Clinical Research Assistant.

what is the difference ? which one is better?

as a fresh medical Grad. with no research experience, which one can we ask for?

    thanks.

Assistant, someone who help in preliminary things
Associate, someone who helps in advanced things, has more experience than Assistant.
Coordinator, someone who assist in scheduling research group meeting, paperwork and secretarial work, usualy doesn't need any experience.

Contact Professors, Associate Prof. and Assistant Prof all over United States and let them know you are interested in their field of research and you are available for one year to do volunteer research job. They usually hire you as research fellow in post doc research.

However, remember, if they want to sponsor visa for you through ECFMG as Research Scholar J Visa, it would be very hard to change it later to Alien Physician J visa later after you matched.

It would be better to find research in some institution that sponsor visa by themselves like Cleveland Clinic.

    Good Luck,

oh thanks amir for the help.

what do you mean ECFMG-sponsered research J-1? how can i find out if the program is "independent"?
and why is it difficult to switch between research and clinical J-1? is it not true that we can get waivers for 2 year HR if it is a "research J-1" ?

and do you think there is a chance for a fresh grad with no research experience to be considered by prof.s ?

    thanks again.

You can ask when they want to issue DS-2019 and also you can find the sponsor institute on that form.

Find facts about J-visa on ECFMG Website.

It is a little bit hard if you want to switch between these 2 types of visa, you should get waiver from Department of State before you can switch.

Yes, there is chance but not that much. Out of 2000 emails, you will receive 5-10 positive reply that 1-2 offers might be suitable for you

Research Associates at some places means senior post-doc, who oversees or design projects, just like a mini-PI (Principal Investigator, big boss). I am pretty sure about this, I just recently read this description... However it might vary among different instituitions....
