Hi all, My girlfriend is applying for psychiatry in next year's match (2008). I will be at Albany in 2008 starting my residency, and would love for her to be there as well with me. That said, can someone who interviewed/matched there be kind enough to tell me about Albany's Psychiatry program? Any comments or advice would be very helpful, either posted here or PM me. Thanks in advance, FragileX

Some insights. 1.) 5 candidates interviewed with me. All of them were IMG's. 2.) The resident who took us for a tour of the hospital and the premises was an IMG from Africa (cant recall the name of the country) and mark my words when I say this "She did not appear satisfied". She did not answer most of the questions we asked her to our satisfaction. 3.) Personally, I have this feeling that if teaching and research interest you a lot then this program is not meant for you. True, this is not an all IMG program but somehow the way they conducted the whole interview made me feel that resident teaching was not a big focus here. 4.) They made a big deal about how good their "benefits" were. You should know since you are a resident there already. 5.) I interviewed at 7 places and ranked Albany med at 6. 6.) Only J1 visa, if thats a concern. I quote from diary journal,, part of my experience there. "No Fellowships Program faculty seemed unmotivated Residents appeared unmotivated and mostly international medical graduates I doubt they have as much research as possible." Shoot me an email if you have specific questions.
