HbH is a tetramer of 4 beta chains but the defect is deletion of 3 alpha chain genes.....???
Can u plz explain why 4 beta chains???? y not 3 beta and 1 alpha???


I knw it s stupid to go into these details but I just cant concentrate when I dont understand simple points...

since the body has extra, leftover “beta” globins, it puts these together to make hemoglobin H, which consists of four “beta” globins. As there is decreased production of Alpha globins the Forms HbA but in decreased amount.

Maybe they do not "fit " toghether 3 beta and one alpha....
The alpha subunit are used to form HbA like new-and-lost says, in a decreased amount.
