Hi, I have a question related to changing the current visa, i.e., F2, to J1 visa for residency. I believe we can do this process in the US, right? so that we don't have to leave the US. And we have to fill out the form I-539 and send it to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service office along with our ORIGINAL I-94. My question is, after the process will we receive our I-94 with changing visa status to J1 written on it, or the I-94 is not changed, i.e., still written the F2 status on it. The residency program said that I-94 should reflect the J1 status in order for them to pay our salary. Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

yes, you can change your visa status while in the US.when you are approved, you will receive a note and the updated I 94 card is included ( your new status is written on it). So do not worried .

They issue you a new I-94 card on the bottom of I-797 form that they will send you after your case is approved. File form I-539 along with ECFMG issued Form DS-2019 Form to USCIS in Vermont or California (according the place you live) with $200 money order.
