I am an IMG & GC holder who just got ECFMG certified though i did not apply for this years match. I have no USCE, no job experience whatsoever in US. I wanted to attend those observerships and Externships for which you have to pay like 3000-5000 dollars but for that i need a paying job first. I have applied for research jobs, Med Asst jobs (which need license BTW that i dont have), and Pharm Tech jobs but unfortunately no reply. I was searching for researchers/principle investigators in Dallas irving area hospitals but found nothing. There are presbyterian hospital, Southwestern medical center, Baylor irving nearby but i have no leads.Just have no clue whatelse to do as i need a job rightaway. I see so many people on this forum who have USCe, research experience but dont know how they find it

Go to the research departments in the Universities nearby, cardiovascular, neuroscience and renal are the most popular... talk to the people over there and find out who are the PIs (principal investigators) talk to them and be willing to volunteer for a couple of months.....do not expect to be paid right away!!!! some are lucky and get a paycheck from the beginning...most of us aren't that lucky. Observerships are even easier.....same plan but in the Department of Medicine of the university.....don't even think about sending your CV to Human Resources (my theory is that Human Resources Department are just a show) bypass secretaries, human resources, coordinators, etc......TALK TO THE BOSS directly. Good luck!

Thankyou faa for your reply. But i am basically looking for a job thats pays. Willing to do anything but so far its been 2 weeks and i got nothing. There are a few researches going on in a hospital nearby but they dont have any openings and i cant volunteer. Just so frustrated...sometimes i feel like hiding my Med graduate status from store managers so that they dont overqualify me for pharm tech ands sales jobs.

Fill a resume at www.monster.com. By the way, there are some observership courses out that you mustn't pay.
