: Pic shows 1 small alveoli n 1 large with step cork in between. No surfactant lining both , what happens if stop cork removed ? I knw small ones tend to collapse more...but acc. to Tension = Pressure * radius The large one will have more surface tension and hence tends to collapse more???? I think I"m missing some very easy point here...

accordin to the laplace equation.. P=2T/R... SO FOR THE SAME TENSION T... A SMALLER ALVEOLI WILL HAVE A GRATER COLLAPASING PRESSURE THAN THE LARGER ALVEOLI..
