Can anyone name some (not so common) pathologic terms used to describe the pathogenesis of Diabetes Mellitus?

Honeymoon period....u have almost %20 of B cells.Juvenil and Type 1...
insulin resistance..For type 2.....
Stiffman Syndrome...there are autoantibodies against insulin...
impaired insulin secretion...Type II

One of the things about this field is that things change.

1)From what I understand no more Type I or Type II
both come under Diabetes Mellitus (because insulin is sometimes
used in type II-(took the powers that be a long time to figure that out)
This is in the 15th edition of Harrison.

2) The main test is the fasting test which should be below 110mg/dl
between 110 and 126 is called impaired glucose fasting

3)back to key terms- HLA-DR3,HLA-DR4,HLA-DQ.
4) Osmotic damage
5) Advanced glycosylation end products-(AGE)
6) amyloid deposits
7) hyaline arteriosclerosis
8) Armanni Ebstein lesions

thanks mjl for the info..

Armanni Ebstein lesions , whats that ?

Armanni Ebstein lesions refers to some of the pathogenesis of DM is the kidney tubules-[there is vacuolization of cells of the proximal convuluted tubule]

nonenzymatic glycosylation (NEG)...hyaline arteriosclerosis( nephropathy) and macrovascular disease(CAD,CVA,PVD)

i think AGE which you have mentioned is same to NGE..

among kidney lesions...nodular glomerulosclerosis ,papillary necrosis, diffuse GS, arteriolar nephrosclerosis .

yeah that NEG that you talk of is a key phrase in this pathogenesis
imagine that- you could read a large book about enzymes but in this particular pathology "none" are needed :!:
