So how hard is to get in neurology?
I like internal medicine, but if you offer gogeta pediatrics he will take it

how much do the residents get paid?

It depends what specialty you are doing. But you start with 38,000-41,000 thats how much a first year resident makes.

They make u work like mules in pediatrics. Internal medicine is better i guess ,if we have a choice ....that iswink

I wonder how many of us will have multiple choices in picking residency .....

a..Dermatology

b.Radiology

c.Ophthalmology.

d.ENT

e.Anaesthesia.

f.None of the above.

P.S IMGS please choose ...default choice f.raised eyebrow

If you can get IM you can do something call hospitalist, you work little and they pay you alot.

Lets pray that there are no PD of residency here, because if they see the real megrin, they will say eeee you are aplying for what again?raised eyebrow

But I have my serious moments and professional moments but most of the time Im just a little nodnod

Im open to any ideas because of my situation, but I would love to do IM as first choice and there are a couple that are tie in second.

If they say GOGETA you have Dermatology in ALASKA, gogeta says where do I sign.

The salary info is distorted, there is no way plastics range from $185,250 to $453,000, it could potentially go a lot higher. The survey is prolly mostly academia or incomplete.

US citizens IMG and Non US citizen IMG
Now if you see how many are able to get into residency, you will notice that there s a predelection for nonUS.
People think that is the other way around, but if you llok at the NUMBERS not the %, you will see that below.
Of the 6,992 IMG participants who were not U.S. citizens, 3,180 (45.5%) obtained first-year positions. The number of non-U.S. citizen IMGs who obtained positions in 2007 increased by 29 compared to last year. This is the sixth consecutive year that there has been an increase in the number of non-U.S. citizen IMGs matching to first-year positions.

Of the 2,694 U.S. citizen IMG participants, 1,347 (50.0%) were matched to first-year positions, an increase of 116 over last year. This is the fourth consecutive year that there has been an increase in the number of U.S. citizen IMGs matching to first-year positions.

Q1 : Now, dont they prefer US citizens IMG on Non US citizen IMG?

Q2 : Do the specialties offrered defer between AMGs and US citizens IMG?
